HOW WE WORK

The production of a true and authentic wine is only possible where the perfect combination of grape and terroir exists, working according to the sound principles of eco-sustainability, bringing the utmost respect to the planet that hosts us, those involved in the supply chain and consumers.

The harvest by hand

The respect for each single vine is combined by an extreme respect for every single bunch and berry of grapes harvested, which is why Villa Canthus has always harvested grapes exclusively by hand through manual harvesting and the use of crates. With this method there is the possibility to safeguard the organoleptic characteristics of the berry, to alter the grapes as little as possible before the winemaking processes and to produce a more natural, unique and healthy wine.

Vinification, bottling and packaging

The grapes reach the Villa Canthus winery where the delicate processes of vinification, refinement and aging take place to best enhance the organoleptic characteristics of each individual type of wine. At Villa Canthus, even the bottling and packaging processes are carried out in-house for a complete production chain marked by the highest care and attention to every single phase in the creation of a wine: from the growing of the grapes in the field to the bottle ready to be uncorked.

SQNPI Certification

In the vineyards of Villa Canthus, rows of native grape varieties such as Glera, Verduzzo and Incrocio Manzoni alternate with rows of international grape varieties such as Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc, which are cultivated with full respect for the environment through the “National Quality System of Integrated Production,” or SQNPI. This mention on the label indicates certification of the integrated production process, which is the combination of good agronomic practices with sustainable use of fertilizers and plant protection products in a way to reduce environmental impact and protect the ecosystem.

International awards

The latest awards, in order of time, feature Pinot Grigio Ramato which was honoured by Decanter World Wine Award as one of the best Pinot Grigio Ramati of 2022 and Incrocio Manzoni I.G.T. 2021, the red 2.15 and the white 6.0.13, as the best Incrocio Manzoni by The Wine Hunter for 2023.

A tailor-made wine

Respect for the environment, the product, and the people eager to taste the wine are for Villa Canthus the vital energy that every day allows it to think, devise, and make a tailor-made wine that contemplates past, present and future of a Made in Italy dream.
