TERRITORY AND WINE TOURISM

There is a city pierced by centuries of history, inundated by the saltiest tides and witness to mad deeds that, despite all, is the most sublime timeless beauty in the hearts of those who live and dream of it: Venice.

THE GLORY OF THE VENETIAN VILLAS

Villa Canthus tells of aspects of Venice through the typical and classical style of Venetian Villas: characteristic houses of the Serenissima Republic of Venice built between the 15th and 19th centuries in the territories of northeastern Italy. These villas bear witness to the willingness of the Venetian aristocracy of the time to invest in agriculture by creating villas characterized by architecture based on linear forms, a building surrounded by fields and a unique decorative style.

DISCOVERING ITALY

This beauty of Venice can be felt and branched out in a territory that over time has developed unique eno-gastronomic, artistic and cultural ties as well as in the entire Italian territory. Italy, not surprisingly, is that boot-shaped territory that everyone calls Bel Paese and where wherever you point your gaze you always find something unique to discover. A delicate and exciting work of art, a succulent and tasty typical food, a unique and sublime landscape are a priceless heritage that everyone can discover.

THE PIAVE THAT MURMURS

At Villa Canthus, if you scan the horizon to admire the landscape, you can recognize the Piave River. It is not simply flowing water but a historical and fluid testimony to the Great War. From June 15 to 17, 1918, the story goes that a group of 300 soldiers resisted the Austro-Hungarian advance led by Major Francesco Mignone, a valiant man who is still remembered today and he was shot dead during the fighting.
Ernest Hemingway, one of the world’s best-known Nobel laureates and then enlisted in the American Red Cross, was also wounded in these very areas.

THE DNA OF VILLA CANTHUS

And not only that. The wines of Villa Canthus themselves are part of that undiscovered food and wine heritage that tell a unique story to anyone who tastes them: the story of Fossalta di Piave and of the people who have trodden its soil, the Ormenese family that since the last century has made a passion for wine a profession and the tomorrow made of the constant quest to respect the environment and the ecosystem.
